Ibn Gabirol is right; his search echoes Ecclesiastes’ desire to find meaning in life. Once you think yourself as wise, you’ve adopted an attitude that is haughty, incongruent with true wisdom. Once you find the meaning of life and you stop pursuing meaning in all that is, you’ve ceased to live.
