A Blessing for Pets

A blessing for pets, created for the Blessing of the Pets at Congregation Or Ami. Add your beloved pets’ names and recite it for them.

Makor HaChayim (Source of Life),

You filled Your world with creatures,

Great and small,

Furry and feathered,

Quiet and wildly energetic,

Each one a small piece of Your creation.

Bless [pet’s name],

Who brings companionship to this family,

Laughter to their home,

Comfort when comfort is needed,

And love, given in that mysterious way

Animals somehow know how to give.

Keep [pet’s name] healthy and safe.

Bless the hands that feed and care for [him/her/them],

And the hearts that have made room for [him/her/them].

As You promised Noah,

Your covenant embraces kol nefesh chayah (every living creature).

May [pet’s name] be blessed with good health,

Gentle days,

Plenty of treats,

And many more years

Of loving and being loved.

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ, הַמְבָרֵךְ כׇּל חַי.

Baruch Atah Adonai, Ha-m’vareich kol chai.

Blessed are You, Holy One, who blesses all living things.

Amen.
