Tree Planting for Tu B'shvat

There's nothing like getting out of the house - and out of the temple - to see and experience the fullness of God's creation. Our Santa Monica Mountains are beautiful and with the help of Mountains Restoration Trust and the Tree People, Congregation Or Ami planted trees in our Or Ami Mitzvah Grove in Malibu Creek State Park. The sun, clear blue skies and 150 plus congregants conspired to make it an amazon back to nature celebration of our Jewish Arbor Day. Among my favorite parts - next to dressing up as Captain Shomrei Adamah (Guardians of the Earth) - was to plant a tree, which we named "Spike".
